Investigating the impact of the wavelength of light on the voltage output of a solar panel

H.R. Gudur • Archive of Works

An experimental study investigating monocrystalline silicon solar panel voltage response across discrete LED emissions spanning Ultraviolet (367.5 nm), Blue (460 nm), Green (527.5 nm), Red (655 nm), and Infrared (850 nm) at a controlled 20 cm perpendicular distance. Evaluates the initial linear hypothesis against silicon bandgap thresholds (Eg ≈ 1.12 eV), thermalization losses, and non-ohmic LED characteristics.

Bandgap Threshold λc ≈ 1107 nm (1.12 eV)
Spectrum Tested 367.5 nm – 850 nm (5 Bands)
Peak Output Voltage 4.66 V (655 nm Red LED)
Light Source Regime Non-Ohmic LED Behavior
